Too many mistakes in the first half of this game cost the Sarries there chance of there first away win of the season. The game started in a fast pace which carried on throughout the game with both sides looking to play attractive running rugby, but it was the Sarries that struck first with some excellent build up phase play eventually forcing the well organised Brockworth defense to stray off side and give a penalty away in front of the posts which Luke Stoneman stepped up and kicked giving the Sarries a perfect start. But after this every mistake the Sarries made they were punished, and Brockworths first try came from a missed attempt at a penalty which went well wide of the posts and hung up in the wind giving the Brockworths chasing winger a simple catch and a touch down over the line, after this the Sarries seemed to lose all there shape and some poor kicking gifted Brockworth there second try not long afterwards.
Even though the Sarries were behind they still kept playing some good rugby with again some good phase play and it was from a five meter lineout that they got their first try with George Bennett and salmon like Will Dove combining well in the lineout resulting in a push over try for captain Nick Hanby, but not long after this the Sarries were again camped in the Brockworth twenty two but yet again a sloppy pass gave the Brockworth winger a simple interception for him to race clear and score there third try. It was then chance for Brockworth to show some of there own rugby skill with some good forward play and some excellent positional kicking they found them selves in the Sarries twenty two and the normally sound Sarries lineout was this time the cause for Brockworths fourth and final try, with a slap back and a cruel bounce the ever present Brockworth flanker pounce for the try giving Brockworth a half time lead off 26 – 8.
After some firm words at half time by the Sarries back room staff the Sarries upped there game and continued to apply the pressure and with a bit of a scuffle going on it left veteran fly half Andy Surman with a simple run under the posts which Stoneman converted, the rest of the second half was a story of the Sarries attacking but the Brockworth defense was just as strong as the Sarries attack keeping them at bay in till a quick tap penalty saw Nelly Francis worm his way over, setting up a final tense 5 minutes but it was to little to late for the Sarries and the mistakes they made in the first half cost them the game. Final score 29 – 22
